Visual image search and visual analytics are important research topics, and have potential applications in trillion dollar industries such as E-commerce, Robotics, and Autonomous Vehicles. In recent years, we have witnessed significant research progress made in this area of research.
This first IEEE Signal Processing Society Winter School on Visual Image Search and Visual Analytics (VISVA 2014) aims to provide a stimulating opportunity for young researchers and graduate students to get to know the state of the art technologies. Participants will benefit from direct interaction and discussions with world leaders in Image Analysis and Computer Vision. Participants will also have the possibility to introduce their research, and to interact with their scientific peers, in a friendly and constructive environment.
VISVA 2014 is organised by the Rapid-Rich Object Search (ROSE) Lab at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and co-sponsored by TENCENT and the IEEE Signal Processing Society. The ROSE Lab aims to build visual search technology to support real-time applications with scalability to user demand. The Lab was jointly set up between NTU and Peking University (PKU), China, drawing upon each university’s strength in media, computer vision, and cloud computing technologies. The lab is creating an innovation platform for media applications, and develops visual object search tools by working with major industry players, including Tencent, one of the largest internet companies in Asia.
